🖼️ Discovering pigments and oil techniques from the 15th-17th century

🎨 Objectives of the course

This intensive internship is intended for anyone wishing to discover the fundamental techniques of Flemish and Dutch painting:

• 1/2 day of ecomuseum and former quarries conference visits
• Traditional preparation of the medium
• Grinding pigments
• manufacture and use of oil mediums
• application of ice in successive layers

Each participant will make a copy of an old picture or other topic chosen together upstream.

• Presentation of materials: pigments, oils, supports
• Preparation of a panel (or coated canvas)
• Establishment of the preparatory drawing
• Application of a lean underlayer
• Place coloured layers in ice
• Collective step analysis

🏡 Location and reception

The course takes place in Roussillon (Luberon) in the framework of one of the most beautiful villages in France, at the ecomuseum of l'ocre (Okhra)

• The workshop is equipped for up to 10 people
• Several restaurants nearby
• Accommodation suggestions may be provided upon request

🧾 Practical arrangements

• Equipment provided : prepared panel, pigments, mediums, binders
• To be provided : personal brushes, notebook
• Meals : free, to bring or take on site
