Ancient painting courses
Discover or improve, in a quiet and inspiring setting
The Van Eyck workshop offers intensive workshops during school holidays, in a study and benevolent atmosphere.
These courses allow you to explore in depth a particular technique, through the copying of a painting chosen upstream or leaving your imagination open.
They are intended for both passionate beginners and artists wishing to deepen a rigorous classical approach.
Two workshop formats
1. Workshops in the countryside (home)
Welcome in a quiet setting, 1h from Paris by train
Groups limited to 6–10 participants
Meals possible on site (fridge and kitchenette available)
Accommodation nearby (addresses provided at registration)
2. Travelling/partnership workshops
Co-animated with specialized places (studios, conservatories, academies...)
Site-specific topics: portrait, material study, natural pigments...


Conduct of the course
Each course takes place over 5 consecutive days, for a total of 30 hours (6 hours/day).
Program:
- Selection of the painting to copy
- Preparation of support
- Manufacture of mediums, colour preparation
- Drawing and successive stages of painting
Equipment and conditions:
- Material provided: prepared panel, pigments, mediums
- personal brushes (list provided), notebook
- Meals: Plan picnic or lunch
- The course takes place from 4 students (reimbursement in case of cancellation)
